Nightmare Boy, Best Classic Indie Horror Game

Madrid, October 25, 2017 there is the latest exciting game news coming from The Vanir Project and the publisher Badland Games. After two years in development, The Vanir Project’s Nightmare Boy games have finally appeared on the PlayStation Store, Xbox One Marketplace and Steam.

Nightmare Boy mixes cartoon visuals with classic 2D pixel art. Every asset in the game has been handcrafted by Juan Garcai, visual designer, graphic designer of The Vanir Project. The game mixes adventure, exploration and platforming, and adds some of the classic “Metroidvania” mechanics: huge scenarios, divided into different zones, mostly only accessible after getting the appropriate weapon or item.

This game by The Vanir Project mixes a graphic style reminiscent of the golden age of arcade games, a storyline that fits all, with plot twists only adults will understand, and “Metroidvania” platform, exploration and mechanics. The Nightmare Boy soundtrack has been composed by Vic Hernand, a musician and composer with a degree in Music History and Science as well as Production Studies at the renowned Berklee College of Music.

The Vanir Project has added a new element to Nightmare Boy, where you must spend the gems collected during the game at each save point, rewarding the bravest players, expending while punishing which saves every time.

This Horror Game Nightmare Boy will put you in Billy’s shoes, transforming into the mysterious Rolo, who must survive his worst nightmare, and the nightmares of ten other children, also trapped in the same dark world.

Every child saved will give Billy new powers that will help him survive in that nightmare world; Also, other children who are lost in their nightmares will add their own stories to the plot, reasoning why they are stuck there. Players have to wonder about that reason.

In your quest to save Noctum from a self-proclaimed ruler, you will meet strange and quirky friends and foes. Quick reflexes and a sense for exploration are key if you intend to collect rare items, defeat enemies, and finally face your deepest fears.

Game Nightmare Boy’s story takes place in Donorok, in the state of Noctum. After Noctum’s King, Aster, disappeared, which caused chaos to rule the world. The relationship between Monster, Mongo and Dreamer was completely unstable, and Donorok – a land heavily affected by chaos – slowly absorbed the terrain from the surrounding area. Balder has taken over and has ordered the monsters to defend the child who fell into the Nightmare. The key to continuing his reign is with the Nightmare Boy, Billy.
