City Hunter Anime Movie Releases Again in February 2019!

In Indonesia, the anime City Hunter has several known meanings. There is a live action film, played by Jackie Chan, a Korean drama featuring Lee Minho and Park Minyoung and an anime manga by Tsukasa Hojo. Of all the types of City Hunters mentioned, they both tell about the adventures of a detective who seems indifferent and clumsy as a defender of the truth but in his own unique way.

This year, in February 2019, the story of City Hunter will continue. Sunrise as the anime studio previously announced that the City Hunter anime will air on February 8, 2019 after 20 years of the first City Hunter airing.

If you have watched City Hunter or know this anime, you must be curious about what kind of adventure this time will be. Well, this time Ryo Saeba is a sweeper or private detective who solves criminal cases outside the police law. There are two things that make Ryo a very eccentric character, namely because of his Magnum gun, and his behavior that makes him shake his head especially in front of beautiful women.

If you think that the City Hunter anime that airs will use a different role, that’s a big mistake. Because the City Hunter anime is still with the same cast composition from 1987. Akira Kamiya remains the figure of Ryo Saeba, a tough and flirtatious detective for sure. Ryo is also known to have many fighting techniques for close range, his driving skills, to his ability to use various types of firearms.

Kaori Makimura, played by Kazue Ikura on duty is also still there. Kaori who is in charge of managing administrative matters to meet a client who needs Ryo’s help. Not only that, Kaori is also able to fight back when she is attacked and defend herself. Kaori is known to be a tomboy and fierce, especially when she reminds Ryo when he is being carried away by the temptation of beautiful women.

Then there is Saeko Nogami, played by Yoko Asagami. As City Hunter lovers know, Saeko is a detective from the Tokyo police who has worked with Ryo and Kaori several times in big and complicated cases.

There is also Umibozu who is still played by Tessho Genda. Umibozu is also a sweeper who moonlights as a cafe waitress. Actually Umibozu is Ryo’s rival in the sweeper business and both are actually equally tough, the difference is that Umibozu uses a bazooka or machine gun.

Lastly, there is Mami Koyama as Miki. The owner of the Cats’ Eye cafe which in fact is Umibozu’s workplace. Miki is Umibozu’s comrade in the past and the two are lovers.

Of course City Hunter adapts to the current situation. City Hunter adapts to the modern era but the characteristics of this film are still preserved such as the hammer used by Kaori to hit Ryo and also Ryo’s Mino Cooper car. The classic City Hunter feel is also still very much felt because it is maintained by the director Kenji Kodama and this film features music composer Taku Iwasaki who is involved in the anime spyoff Angel Heart.
