5 Advantages of iPhone X Compared to Old iPhone Series
One of the highlights of the Apple Event which was held on Tuesday (12/9/2017) was the release of the iPhone X (read iPhone Ten). This iPhone X marks a completely different iPhone line from the previous iPhones.
“This is the biggest jump since the iPhone was first introduced,” said Tim Cook, Tuesday (12/9/2017) morning in the United States or Wednesday (13/9/2017) morning in Indonesia.
“iPhone X is the future of a smartphone and also a big leap from the iPhone series,” said Apple Senior Vice President of Worldwide Marketing Phil Schiller at the launch of the iPhone X, as quoted from the Liputan 6 Tekno page.
No Frame & Home Button
The most striking thing about the iPhone X is its frameless or bexel-less design measuring 5.8 inches with an OLED screen with a resolution of 2,436 x 1,125 pixels with a density of 456 ppi. In addition to its full-looking appearance, the iPhone X also comes without the Home button that was always found on every previous iPhone device; including the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus which were released at the same time as the iPhone X.
Without the Home button then how will users navigate such as activating and unlocking this smartphone? For navigation, Apple has prepared a new gesture-based navigation method, which is to just tap the screen to make the screen active when it’s on stand-by. To return to Home simply by scrolling the screen up.
To replace multitasking which is usually done by pressing the Home button twice, Apple has also provided a special replacement for the iPhone X. The trick, users simply tap the screen, then drag down then up and hold for a moment. The application windows will immediately appear so that users can switch applications easily. In addition, on the right side there is a physical button that functions to talk to Siri, the digital assistant that is the pride of the iPhone.
Impressive Face ID Features
In addition to coming with an unusual design, the iPhone X is also equipped with a lot of impressive features that make this smartphone stand out compared to the two iPhones released at the same time. The features in question are Face ID, which is facial recognition technology that replaces the Touch ID fingerprint scanner that is integrated with the Home button.
Face ID will recognize the user’s face and unlock the iPhone automatically when tapped on the screen and then point the face at the front camera. With more than 30,000 reference points, Face ID is also claimed to be ten times more secure than Touch ID because the difference between human fingerprints is 1:50,000 while facial patterns are compared to 1:1,000,000.
Face ID is an algorithm created by Apple combined with TrueDepth capabilities in the front camera. Then how fast is Face ID to recognize the user’s face? Apple claims Face ID is processed in real time and is difficult to deceive and is able to recognize the user’s face accurately for all conditions, including when the lighting is low, the user wears a hat or glasses.
New Level Emojis; Animoji
In addition to innovating by using Face ID in activating the device, Apple also presents a moving emoji called Animoji which is only found on the iPhone X. This new feature allows users to create moving animations using their own facial expressions in the form of funny animations. According to Apple, the birth of Animoji is based on the needs of the current generation who like to use emoji when interacting. It is hoped that this Animoji will improve the user’s experience of expression.
Dual Camera Dual-OIS
Unlike the iPhone 8 Plus which comes with a horizontal dual camera, the iPhone X also comes with a dual camera but is made vertically. These cameras have 12-megapixel resolution each with new color filters, deeper pixels, and apertures of f/1.8 and f/2.4, respectively. The dual camera of the iPhone X is also equipped with OIS on each lens. The iPhone X camera also has better low-light zoom, more capable video recording, and a quad-LED True Tone flash for more natural shooting and video in dark conditions.
iPhone X price
Reportedly, the iPhone X will begin to be available for pre-order on October 27, 2017 and will be available in certain markets on November 3, 2017. The iPhone X comes with two variants of internal memory, namely 64GB for US $ 999 and 256GB for US $ 1,149. This price does not include fees or taxes applied in each country. There is no word yet on when the iPhone X as well as the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will be available in Indonesia.
