It is known that Facebook has applied for a BUT establishment permit to the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), which if the process goes well, the Facebook office in Indonesia can be inaugurated before 17 August 2017. Facebook has also obtained a principle permit from the BKPM since March 2017. However, Samuel admitted that he did not know the type. Standard Classification of Indonesian Business Fields (KBLI) to be used by Facebook in Indonesia.

KBLI is used to determine the qualifications of the type of business activity in the Application for a Trading Business Permit (SIUP), Company Registration Certificate (TDP) and determine the qualifications for investment licensing. For info, Facebook itself is included in the classification of digital platforms that was published last May. In accordance with the Regulation of the Head of the Central Statistics Agency Number 19 of 2017 concerning KBLI, digital platform operators are the result of adjustments to the points contained in KBLI 47919, where e-retail remains the authority of the Ministry of Trade.

Meanwhile, the implementation of digital platforms in the form of platform-based marketplaces, daily deals, price grabbers, or online classified ads is under the authority of the Ministry of Communication and Informatics contained in KBLI 63122. Code 63122 is for websites and/or digital platforms with commercial or profit-oriented purposes.

With the opening of an office in Indonesia, the government also hopes that Facebook’s SLI (Service Level Index) will increase according to Indonesian regulations. In the 2016-2017 Service Level Index (IDD) report, it is known that the average Facebook percentage is still below 50%. It is hoped that with the Facebook office in Indonesia, the Facebook IDD number can penetrate 100%.
