Sony Patents PS1, PS2 & PS3 Emulator Via Cloud for PS5 – Don’t want to be imitated. Sony patents cloud technology to play PS1, PS2 and PS3 games.

The PlayStation 5 may have been revealed, but Sony still has a lot of new features which they announced. One of the features of the PS5 is its unique use of cloud software which was recently patented by Sony. This feature is intended to be able to access PS1, PS2 and PS3 games from the PlayStation 5 console.

Through a post on Twitter, Sony explains how this feature will work. The image below shows an image of the PS1, PS2, and PS3, as well as a dotted box that represents each game. From the images of these consoles, each has a list of games related to each other. These games are then displayed and stored in the cloud gaming library and associated with their respective consoles.

In the post, Sony didn’t actually mention the PlayStation 5 at all. This is platform-agnostic patent which allows Sony to capitalize on this idea in the future. But there’s nothing wrong with it being one of the PS5’s future features, or it could be the newest feature for PlayStation Now.

Apart from that, Sony actually gets a lot of demand from players. Where they want Sony to bring a feature where players can access PlayStation 1, PlayStation 2 and PlayStation 3 games on the latest generation of consoles later. It can also be a great solution for gaming collectors who want to play their games without having to repurchase the digital versions.
