2016 CSGO World Championships Champion Not Paid?
There is the latest news from the CSGO eSports games that is not fun, specifically news from the 2016 CSGO World Championships international tournament. Until this news was published, the winners of the 2016 CSGO World Championships have not been given any prizes. It’s been a year since the organizers haven’t given the prize. Of course this issue makes the winners disappointed and upset. Negative tweets were also scattered from the winning side.
The 2016 CSGO World Championships were actually hosted by E-Frag. This organizer is widely known as a large-scale gaming portal company that focuses on CSGO games. Many thought that the prize should be given by E-Frag. However, clarification was given by E-Frag regarding the chronology of the prizes not being awarded, and who exactly was the party responsible for the prizes.
Based on E-Frag’s statement quoted from Kotaku Compete, the party who should have given the prize was the owner of the event, namely the Azubu company. Regarding why the prize was not paid, there was a connection with the acquisition process that Azubu made to Hitbox at that time. The acquisition process takes a lot of time and money. Unfortunately, the acquisition process was carried out during the tournament, and the settlement occurred at that time which ultimately merged Azubu with Hitbox into Smashcast.
Of course, this acquisition event left Azubu short of funds to provide gifts. Until now, there has been no goodwill from Azubu to solve it. E-Frag as the organizer regrets that, and hopefully their clarification will not add to the misunderstanding between them and the winner.
E-Frag is taking care of the problems that occur between this company and Azubu. It was clearly stated in the contract that they mutually agreed that it was Azubu who should pay the winners after the tournament was over. However, Azubu paid no heed to this. Now, this matter is being handled by E-Frag through the lawyers they have hired.
