GridGames.ID – After successfully competing in Mobile Legends which was held earlier this year, the Esports President Cup will be held again in 2020.

This national scale tournament is one of the government’s efforts to build an esports ecosystem in Indonesia.

The implementation of the inaugural Esports Presidential Cup in 2019 also received a positive response from various organizations (clubs) and the Indonesian eSports community.

Today (1/10), the Presidential Staff Office (KSP), the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Creative Economy Agency, and the Ministry of Communication and Information presented a media dialogue entitled “Building an Esports Ecosystem” at Plaza Senayan, Jakarta.

Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports Gatot S. Dewa Broto, Chair of the 2020 Esports Presidential Cup Committee Giring Ganesha, Founder & CEO of BOOM ID (Esports Organization) Gary Ongko Putera, and Island of God (IOG) Team Esports Athlete Fickri Aulia were the speakers at the dialogue. .

“We are actually quite late compared to other countries. Our leap in esports has only been a year or two. For esports events and tournaments, we have only started the last seven years. While other countries have from 15 years ago. Don’t let us continue to fall behind,” said Gatot.

Gatot also revealed that the government continues to educate and build an understanding of eSports which has the same principles and values ​​as other sports.

According to Gatot, the government ensures that the Esports President’s Cup will be held again in 2020.
