CD Projekt Red Developer Attacked by Ransomware, Threatened to Leak Data

GridGames.ID – The unexpected news came from developer CD Projekt Red, who said that the company’s database had been attacked by Ransomware.

Reporting from TheVerge, the developer of the title Cyberpunk 2077 has been hacked by attackers who have been able to access its internal network.

As a result, this attacker has encrypted several devices and collected “certain data” from this Polish-based video game company.

CD Projekt Red said it would not give in to demands or negotiate with attackers, and did not believe the personal data of players or service users had been compromised.

In a tweet from the official Twitter account @CDPROJEKTRED, they shared the ransom note left by the hacker.

The hacker claims to have accessed the source code for Cyberpunk 2077, Witcher 3, Gwent, and “unreleased versions of Witcher 3”.

The hackers threatened to release the source code along with internal information, HR and financial documents.

In a statement, CD Projekt said it had secured its IT infrastructure, and started recovering its data from intact backups.

He also said he had reported to the relevant authorities as well as an IT forensic specialist.
