In Nerf Valorant Again, Sage Becomes a Useless Agent?

In Nerf Valorant Again, Sage Becomes a Useless Agent? Valorant has just released their latest update, Patch 1.07. In this update we see some adjustments to agents as well as weapons.

Viper, Breach, Killjoy and Sova all received an update that changed some of their skill stats, but the agent who took the biggest hit from this update was Sage!

The Sage receives a nerf (decrease in stats) where he can no longer heal his teammates and himself to his full life if their HP is below 40.

Then, Sage has also received a significant nerf against his Slow Orb and Barrier Orb skills.

Surely the nerf that Sage received raised questions among many Valorant players, “Is Sage useless now?”

Sage has been nerfed countless times!

This isn’t the first time Sage has received nerf. In fact, Sage has nerfed Valorant 3 times in 3 months.

In the first month when Valorant was released, many players felt that Sage was a very OP character!

He can heal his teammates or himself more than 2 in 1 round. The Slow Orb that Sage has also makes the enemy walk as slow as a turtle, and the Barrier Orb skill is also very difficult for the enemy to destroy.

Therefore, Riot decided to give Sage nerf to match the skills he had with other agents.

Sage is not a healer?

Riot Games’ decision to keep Sage nerfed may confuse many Valorant players, but it looks like Riot has a reason why.

Sage is well-known to many Valorant players as a healer agent, but it doesn’t seem like this is how the Valorant developers imagined this agent would be.

In their Twitch Stream, Riot Games stated that the real role that Sage plays is as staller, not a healer.

They felt that the Sage had a duty to slow down enemy attacks and kill as much time as possible. They didn’t want Sage to be used as a medical team.

Sage as Staller wasn’t that good either

If indeed Sage has a duty as staller, we still feel that he is not a very good staller, especially with stalling sage also accepts nerf.

The ice wall skill that Sage has now is not that strong anymore and can be destroyed with 1 magazine Assault Rifle, making Sage only able to hold the enemy for a few seconds.

The Slow Orb Sage skill is now also reduced by 30% in size so that the area covered is getting smaller.

In fact, many players felt that Brimstone was staller which is better than Sage, especially with the smoke and molotov skills that Brimstone has.

Useless Sage?

With the healing and stalling skills weakening, many players feel that what is the purpose of playing with Sage now?

Agents like Phoenix and Reyna don’t really need Sage anymore because they have the skills to heal themselves.

Meanwhile, other agents also have effective skills to slow down enemy attacks.

Even so, we still think that Sage is a useful Agent. Even though his healing skill is reduced, Sage is still able to give his teammates extra HP if they get hit.

In addition, the Ice Wall and Slow Orb Sage when used together can still effectively slow down enemy attacks.

Indeed, Sage’s needs in a match may not be as important as it used to be, but he is still a good support agent!
