RRQ’s Journey at PBIC 2018
Before the main event of PBIC 2018 was held, the teams that would participate in the main event were selected in advance through qualifying matches in each of the participating countries. The Indonesian regional qualification was held by Garena Point Blank Indonesia via a championship entitled PBNC 2018. From the thousands of participating teams, RRQ Endeavor was chosen as the 2018 PBNC champion.
PBIC 2018 is called by Yohanna Wijaya as PR & Communications Garena Indonesia as a challenging championship for teams from Indonesia. The reason was because, RRQ had to deal with teams that had also won before, namely the Thailand and Brazil teams.
At the main event of PBIC 2018, RRQ Endeavor’s journey was smooth. The pride of Indonesia’s PB team has been able to lead and dominate since the group phase. In the group phase of PBIC 2018, RRQ Endeavor was in Group A. In that group, RRQ faced Juventus from Brazil, World Judge ESC from Turkey, and Pogiz.RascaL Gaming SC from the Philippines. RRQ played fiercely in this phase which ultimately led to them as group leaders, and Juventus had to settle for being the group runners-up. Because of their position, these two teams are entitled to advance to the semifinal playoffs.
RRQ’s opponent in the semifinals was Art of eXecution who was runner-up in group B. The Russian team had to settle for being the runner-up in the group because they lost strongly to Signature.PB from Thailand. Signature.PB won Group B against Art of eXecution, tRush_Skr from Taiwan, and Pantawalon e-Sports from Latin America.
Against Art of eXecution in the semifinals, RRQ’s superiority was also seen after easily defeating his opponent. However, the superiority does not only belong to RRQ, Signature.PB who met Juventus in the semifinals was also able to appear powerful. Just like RRQ, the Thai PB team was able to bend Juventus with a score of 2-0.
In the final, NextJack and friends meet Signature. The first map in the final match is Provence. On the map, both teams were able to display a fierce game. Seen, the pursuit of points that drain the energy and stamina of both teams occurred. However, after a long time exchanging bullets, finally, Signature.PB from Thailand was able to get the first point after winning 9-7.
The second map selected in the final is Downtown. This match venue is expected to be Signature.PB’s graveyard for RRQ. However, that didn’t happen. RRQ, who still had hope, fought tenaciously. They played aggressively in Downtown. In this second map, finally, RRQ won by one point by a score of 8-3.
As the score became 1-1, the third map had to be played with Sandstrom being an option. On this map, Signature looks great which makes RRQ far behind. Trying to catch up, but how can Signature be able to continue to play nicely against RRQ. Signature’s aggressiveness finally resulted in a victory with a striking score of 9-4. With 2 wins and one loss, Signature.PB finally won PBIC 2018. The victory at PBIC 2018 made Signature get a cash prize of 55,000 USD. Not only that, the MVP title was also won by a player, namely MoDra.
