Forgot to use Denuvo, DOOM Eternal was hijacked on the first day of release!
For those of you PC game connoisseurs, you must be familiar with the name Denuvo. Yes, Denuvo is the mainstay of developers to protect their game defense system from piracy and various other system exploits.
But did you know that developers often forget to use Denuvo in the games they will release? This is what happened to DOOM Eternal. Well, Bethesda itself is one of Denuvo’s subscriptions, but unfortunately it looks like they made a mistake with DOOM Eternal.
Forgot to Install Denuvo on DOOM Eternal
Yes, because they forgot, they did not install Denuvo at all on DOOM Eternal which resulted in DOOM Eternal having to be hijacked by a group of crackers on the first day of its release. Gamers on the Resetera forum reported that the Bethesda.net version of Doom Eternal had a folder with the name “original”.
Well, it contains an .exe file that is not protected by Denuvo at all and can run the game without any problems. As a result, a group of crackers immediately took action to break into the game before Bethesda realized it and deleted the files through an update. Due to these omissions, the game was hacked by the CODEX cracker team within hours of its release.
The Denuvo They Had Was In Vain!
As a result, the protection that they have is actually in vain now. This is not the first time Bethesda has made this mistake. In the release of Rage 2, they also forgot to install Denuvo protection on the release of the Bethesda.net version. As a result, the money they spent on Denuvo’s protection was wasted with the game being hacked shortly after the cracker became aware of the omission.
