Dota 2 Change MMR to Medal Rank! Who is at the Top of the Leaderboards?

After the plan that was launched some time ago, finally Valve officially replaced the MMR system and replaced it with Medal Rank dota 2 which was then divided per season. For esports players who are familiar with Overwatch and League of Legends or the two mobile moba games Mobile Legends or Arena of Valor, they are familiar with and familiar with systems like this.

Many parties welcomed this system, because previously Dota 2 was more unique compared to other games by only providing a number-based ranking system, but now Valve is starting to switch to using a caste ranking division system.

Dota 2 Rank Medal Sequence:

  • Tier 1 Rank – Herald (0 to ~720 MMR)
  • Tier 2 Rank – Guardian (~840 to 1560 MMR)
  • Tier 3 Rank – Crusader (~1680 to 2400 MMR)
  • Tier 4 Rank – Archon (~2520 to 3240 MMR)
  • Tier 5 Rank – Legend (~3360 to 4080 MMR)
  • Tier 6 Rank – Ancient (~4200 to 4920 MMR)
  • Tier 7 Rank – Divine (~5040 to 5760 MMR)
  • Tier 8 Rank – Immortal (6000+ MMR)

Just like rank medals in other moba games, each ranking will be divided into 5 stars which will be used later as a progression system, this applies to parties or solo. However, to reach Ancient or Divine rank, solo performance would be much more considered.

The dota 2 rank medals obtained by players will appear on each player’s profile, and all those who manage to get the Divine rank will appear on the leader board automatically. The system will be recalibrated every 6 months or every season. With this new system, Dota 2 will become more similar to other competitive games, such as CS:GO, LoL or even Overwatch and Mobile Legends.

In this latest system, all players are required to perform Calibrating by playing 10 games to be able to unlock their MMR, this is the same as when players do ranked matches.

Since it was opened and introduced yesterday until today, there have been quite a number of players including pro players who have opened their latest MMR. As of today, this is the latest leaderboard of the Medals Rank across the region.

There are still quite a number of players who are still confused about the medal rank system which is still a new count. This is because to this day there is still no official explanation from Valve regarding the numbers in this Medals Rank. So it makes sense that those who can achieve the highest medals are those who have MMR above 10,000, but if you look at the leaderboard above, quite a lot of players have achieved Divine Medals 5.

Actually this change is not too significant, but it is undeniable that moba games like this still have the main problem, namely the matchmaking system for solo players who are sometimes in a team whose abilities are far below them.

But if you look at the same system applied in League of Legend, AoV or Mobile Legends, cases like this still occur and are not very effective. So will this system run well in Dota 2? We look forward to the next latest esports news only in Game News!
