Wow! SEGA Forced to Sell Arcade Game Business, Here's Why
GridGames.ID – The surprising news came from one of the arcade game service providers in Japan, Sega.
Reported from Eurogamer, recently in a press release, Sega’s parent company Sammy Holdings Inc said that it had sold most (85.1%) of Sega Entertainment, to entertainment machine company Genda Inc.
Sega’s revenue has dropped due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, which has devastated its arcade business.

Sega is also reportedly going to record ‘tremendous losses’ due to the ongoing pandemic.
“Because the Entertainment Center Operations area in the Entertainment Content Business was heavily affected by COVID-19, the utilization of the facilities has decreased drastically,” said Sega.
“Significant losses were recorded in the 1Q of the fiscal year ending March 2021,” he continued.
