Sony Successfully Sells 4.5 Million PlayStation 5 Units During 2020
GridGaems.ID – Sony’s success in selling the PlayStation 5 seems to show positive results.
According to information published with the company’s latest earnings report, Sony shipped 4.5 million PS5 units worldwide in 2020.
While very hard to buy since their launch in November 2020, these numbers highlight Sony’s current ability to mass-produce consoles.
PS4 demand fell dramatically (-77%) year-over-year, with 1.4 million units shipped in the October-December quarter.

In fact, Sony’s gaming business as a whole is doing much better than it was a year ago.
Daniel Ahmad as analyst said that it was actually the best quarter in PlayStation history.
Worth noting that this was Sony’s best quarter ever for its games division.
This fiscal year will also be Sony’s best ever for gaming in terms of revenue and profit.

Revenue increased 40% to 883.2 billion yen, driven in part by PS5 sales.
Then, operating profit rose 50% to 80.2 billion yen, due to higher game sales.
