GridGames.ID – In recent years, the gaming industry is showing significant growth in many countries.
Even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the gaming industry can still grow, even bigger, including in Indonesia.

In a webinar entitled “The Great Potential of the Gaming Industry in Indonesia” Tuesday (30/6), the Director of the Creative Industries, Film, Television and Animation of the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said that the Indonesian gaming industry experienced an increase during the COVID-19 pandemic.
“According to data released by the Indonesian Game Association (AGI), the growth of game developers in Indonesia rose 10-20 percent amid the pandemic,” he said.
He added, Indonesia has the potential to be able to compete in the international market.
The reason is, in 2017 alone application and game developers have contributed 1.93 percent or Rp. 19 billion to the gross domestic product of Indonesia’s creative economy sector.

Not only having an economic impact, Syaifullah also said that the gaming industry in Indonesia can add jobs for the community.
“This sector can also absorb 44,733 workers in the application and game developer sub-sectors in the same year,” he said.
