PlayStation Controller Evolution From PS1 to PS5

PlayStation Controller Evolution From PS1 to PS5 – With the announcement of DualSense for PlayStation 5, it means that Sony is bringing a lot of improvements from the first controller to the PS5 DualSense controller.

Given the redesign the DualShock 4 received a lot of plaudits for its significant changes as well. But DualSense is an unexpected evolution, which is fantastic. Many DualShock controllers prior to the DualShock 4 and DualSense all use a very similar architecture. So Sony’s new focus on perfecting console controllers comes as a surprise. Arguably, this is an unnecessary overhaul. But DualSense is indeed the first substantial rework of the console’s iconic controller in years.

DualShock and DualShock 2

Sony first introduced the DualShock in 1997 (1998 in North America) shortly after the release of the first PlayStation. The analog stick layout created by Sony was very innovative at the time. On the PC we can quickly aim at the enemy with the mouse, the PlayStation uses analog to do that. Analog serves to allow players to move faster and more precisely to the enemy.

The difference between the DualShock and DualShock 2 controllers is the default color choice. match the sleek black exterior of the PS2 console itself.

Dual Shock 3

There are not many changes between the PS 2 and PS 3 controller designs. However, the most striking difference is that the PS3 controller does not use cables or wireless. So you can play from a long distance. In addition, the difference is also seen in the L2 and R2 buttons. The button is much more impressive than its predecessor. This makes players feel more thrill in their game.

Dual Shock 4

Physically, the grip of the DualShock 4 controller is made a bit wider than its predecessor and made a little less sharp. The controller is also given a front light that can change color in reaction to the game being played. Although later Sony confirmed that the light was made for tracking in the PSVR which was announced later. This controller is also equipped with an additional button instead of the ‘Select’ button with the ‘Share’ feature. It made sense for Sony to integrate the ‘Share’ button directly into the PS4.

DualSense PS5

Now Sony has made a surprise attempt to turn the already fantastic DualShock 4 into something even better. With the introduction of the “DualSense” controller, Sony made a concentrated effort to create the best and most unique controller. This has created a stylish two-color color scheme, with the majority of the controller being white. The controller also adds haptic feedback to triggers, similar to the Xbox One controller. A built-in microphone will also be integrated into the controller speaker system of the DualShock 4. Sharing functionality has been transitioned to a “Create” button.

So that’s the evolution of the PlayStation controller from PS1 to PS5, yes, Gaess.

Hopefully it’s useful, Gaess.
