George Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, died in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after Derek Chauvin, a white police officer, pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes on May 25, 2020.

For the last three minutes, Floyd was motionless and without a pulse, but the health care workers who were treating him intensively made no attempt to bring him back to life.
