4 Easy Yoga Poses For Beginners

Are you new to yoga? These yoga poses for beginners will help you create a strong foundation and find love for the sport.

Tree Pose / Tree Pose (Vrksasana)

The tree pose is a great introduction to balancing posture. If the Spinners feel like they are starting to fall, you can easily get out. Try not to create a counterweight by sticking your hips to the sides with your standing legs. Focus the Spinners gaze on a single point on the floor, and try different leg positions to see what suits you best:

Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)

The Downward Dog is used in most yoga exercises and classes and it stretches and strengthens the whole body.

Beginners often lean too far forward in this position, making it more like a plank. Instead, remember to keep the Spinners weight mostly on your feet with your heels stretched to the floor. Bend your knees slightly for ease of movement if the Spinners have tight hamstrings. Keep your feet level.

Child Pose (Balasana)

The Child Pose is very important because it is the position that the Spinners do whenever you need to take a break during a yoga class.

Learning child poses is great to use when you feel tired before bed at night and want to let go of aches, or whenever you need mental rest and stress / tension relief.

Start on all fours, then bring your knees and feet together while sitting on your heels and stretch your arms forward. Lower your forehead to the floor (or block or pillow or blanket) and let your whole body fall off.

Cat-Cow Pose (Chakravakasana)

The Cat Cow pose is great because it helps in extension of the spine followed by flexibility of the spine. Doing this movement back and forth will wake up and warm your back, increase body awareness, and is a basic introduction to how to do yoga movements by coordinating your movements with your breath.

The cat-cow pose is probably the most important pose that Spinners learn when starting yoga, especially if you suffer from back pain. The good thing is, you don’t need to take a special yoga class to learn this movement.

Here are some yoga poses for beginners that Spinners can try. Indeed, at first, yoga sometimes looks very difficult and requires flexibility in the body to perform various poses that you cannot yet do. But this should be a motivation for those of you who have never done yoga, because yoga has many benefits for the health of our bodies.
